The work of an artist is to attempt to know the world. My method is to look closely. I bring as much focus and skill as I can to the task of looking. My work is my response to the power, mystery, humor, oddity, and beauty I see when I look closely at the world.

I look for meaning in what I see. It is possible to see the world in nihilistic terms, a place where humanity is lost, disembodied, trivialized and traumatized. That dark vision has some validity, but as an artist I do not choose nihilism. I believe that art defeats nihilism.

I am inspired by artists whose discipline and passion enabled them to create works that hold our interest over centuries. Whether they saw humanity in terms of weakness or strength, they found meaning in the human condition. I very humbly follow in their footsteps.

My intention is to offer you, the viewer, a mixture of pleasure, intellectual challenge, intrigue, and self-recognition. Some pieces here are lighthearted, some are quick sketches, and some are the result of long contemplation. If something here sparks your curiosity, please do not hesitate to contact me.
